CHAPTER 3 - ORIENTATIONAL

Notes
- Nick recieves an invitation from Gatsby to one of his parties.
- As Nick arrives to the party, Nick accounts different rumours flying around about Gatsby.
- Gatsby's parties are described as luxourious and that he lives a decident lifestyle, Nick feels out of place.
- Nick accidently meets Gatsby as Gatsby approached Nick saying that he had seen him around before.
- Nick talks to the audeince about this is not the way he lives his life, although he's rich he wouldn't live such a decident lifestyle.
- Nick follows Daisy's advice and talks to Jordan.

How this chapter is told:

- Nicks opinion and other characters thoughts and rumours on Gatsby help build up to the climax of when we actually meet Gatsby. The use of the rumours help build up excitement and suspense to who this man is..

-  As Nick gives us his view on Gatsby's luxurious lifestyle, the reader understands the contrast between Gatsby's lifestyle and Nick's.

- Not only was the main intention of building up tension when meeting Gatsby, the other sub plot is when Nick actually meets Jordan and talks to her. Fritzlgald does this by using the dialouge of characters to help pusuade Nick.
